EMMANUEL BAPTIST CHURCH – Flint, MI
Prior Circumstances: The existing nursery, children’s areas, lobby and offices were too small in relation to the 650-seat sanctuary. This caused congestion in rooms and corridors, security concerns and kids rooms that were far-flung from each other. Classrooms were also organized individually along corridors, rather than being clustered into “ministry pods”.
Solution: This project started by developing a long-range, multi-phase church master plan that accommodates Emmanuel’s needs, priorities and financial capability. The Phase One building addition includes a new 18,000 sq.ft. children’s ministry center, which consolidates newborns through 6th grade in one area. This addition also includes a children’s lobby with an information kiosk, check-in counters, clustered seating for parents and indoor play equipment.
